Drug Free

Well, I have reached the 12 week mark (a few days ago actually). And not only does that mean I am 1 trimester down, but I am drug free! At least for 4 more weeks. I have been on progesterone therapy since I found out I was pregnant (approximately 4 weeks in). Friday night I took my last dose! It is so nice to be done with it!

So for the next 4 weeks I get to be drug free and pretend I have a completely normal pregnancy (as long as no complications arise *fingers crossed*). Why only 4 weeks? At 16 weeks I start P17 injections. There is a huge long name for them, but I'll use the nice short name. They are a progesterone based injections that research has shown can greatly reduce your chances for pre-term labor. I will get one every week from 16 weeks to 36 weeks (or whenever I have the baby if it's sooner).

On another pregnant friend related note, we found out last night that some other friends of ours are expecting their second baby as well, their son is just 2 months older than Julianna. And she is due April 6...apparently this spring is incredibly popular for having babies. That makes 5 people I know who are all due anywhere from the end of March to the middle of May, with a large portion of us due within just a few days of each other. The hospital we all go to will be pretty busy come April!

Hoping for 7 happy healthy babies this spring (one mom is having twins)!!!

  1. Yeah for entering the 2nd trimester and a double yeah for going drug free for a while. :) I remember with Matt it seemed like something was in the water because there where 4 or 5 of us at church expecting within a few months. It was fun to be expecting together and I enjoy watching our kids grow up together too.
