Bucket Seat

On Father's Day, after visiting Joe at the fire station, Julianna and I went to Joe's parents for a cook-out. She got to do all kinds of fun stuff including riding in the mini Model-T car with her cousins and riding in the bucket of her Uncle Daryl's tractor.
She really enjoyed riding around the yard and up and down their small street (they live on a dead end with only one other house) with Aunt Steph and Marissa.
She can't wait for her next ride! Now the question in Joe's family is, will she be a John Deere green girl or an Allis-Chalmer's orange girl?

Picture Monday: Father's Day at the Fire Station

Joe had to work yesterday, so we went to see him at the fire station. She was fascinated by all the levers and gauges on the pump.
Julianna even got to sit in the truck.
*I forgot my camera, so these pics were taken on my cell. :0p

I Really Do Still Love You!

Saturday was my very best friend Jenny's bridal shower and bachelorette party. Spending a whole day thinking about her and her going-to-be-gorgeous wedding made me start to think about when Joe & I got married, and then it hit me...

Our 3rd anniversary was last Wednesday...and neither one of us had remembered it. We had both forgotten about our anniversary amidst the busy week we had. I called Joe while he was at work and told him happy anniversary...his response was something like "oh crap...I forgot...Happy Anniversary...you're not mad are you?"

Of course I wasn't mad I had forgotten as well (I should have pretended to be in order to get some good butt-kissing out of him). We wondered if it was normal to forget you anniversary so early on...I mean I think you're technically "newlyweds" until you've been married 5 yrs or something like that...and here we were already forgetting things as though we've been married 20 yrs.

We decided it was a good sign. That we are so happy being married that we don't need to remember little things like anniversaries....but from now on we would try to remember. We are planning on going out for an anniversary dinner sometime next week...but we'll probably forget that too.

Picture Monday

Today is all about change...Julianna, then (1 year ago) and Julianna, now.

Then: Outside, watching everyone have fun.
Now: Making some fun of her own.
Then: She would just lay next to Ian.
Now: She plays with Ian.
Then: She loved to lounge with daddy.
Now: She still loves to lounge with daddy.
Then: Julianna lost all the dark brown hair she was born with.
Now: Check out all that hair.

Pig Tails!

YAY! Julianna's hair is finally long enough for pig tails! I was so excited while on vacation and we realized not only was it long enough, but she would actually sit and let me put them in her hair AND leave them there! I think they make her look a little mischievious. Her "bangs" need to grow a little longer before they reach, but the bows I use to hold them back look pretty cute too.
I thought the pig tails totally made her look like a surfer girl when she was in her rash guard suit. By the way, that is the best thing ever! She only wore her actual swim suit like twice, because the rash guard was so much more practical. Its SPF 50, zips up the front, and has snaps between the legs for easy diaper/swim diaper changes. It was AWESOME!

Beachy-keen

Even though Julianna HATED the beach we did make it down there a time or two.

Every year, my sister & her fam take a picture of their footprints in the sand, we took our first one this year.
Walking on the beach. The stroller was about the only way we could get her even on the beach.
The one & only time Julianna did not scream when we set her down. This was the very first morning there, and the first time we set her down.
We attempted to take family pictures the last day there, but there were some storms coming in and it was SOOO windy!
It was so nice to wake up every morning and go for a walk.
**Oh and Joe celebrated his 29th birthday while we were there...HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my AWESOME husband!!!

On Broadway!

To give my parents a break from all the kids while on vacation, we decided to take them to Broadway at the Beach down in Myrtle Beach (Ocean Isle is only about 30-40 minutes north of Myrtle). We spent a few hours shopping, feeding the fish & ducks, riding rides from the "Pavilion", and eating at the Hard Rock Cafe. By the time we went to lunch, ALL the kids were so tired! Julianna was falling asleep eating, but just wouldn't let herself go to sleep. It was a fun day, and it tuckered the kids out so much they all slept for several hours!

Julianna loved the bear outside the Foxworthy Store.
Joe was on baby duty while Ian rode the teacups.
Ian loved the teacup ride-one of the rides they moved when the "Pavilion" closed a few summers ago.
Woohoo, check out those beach bodies!

Pool Girl

Julianna made it very clear while on vacation that she HATED the beach. We would take her down to the beach and she would grab and cling to us for dear life so we couldn't set her in the sand. If we managed to pry her from our bodies, she would lift her feet up, even above her head, to keep from touching the sand. She didn't like the ocean any better than sand.

She did, however, LOVE the pool! She loved getting thrown into the air and then splashing into the water.

She would laugh and splash when we would hold her.
And it didn't even have to be the big pool. We blew up a kiddie pool for her and Ellie on our covered deck and they were happy as clams (see both laughing hysterically below).
Needless to say our vacation at the beach ended up being a vacation at the pool-next to the beach.

Home From Vacation

We are home from our fabulous vacation! We spent a week at Ocean Isle Beach, NC and then were supposed to spend another 4 days in SC visiting all of our friends in Goose Creek. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned and we spent a single night in SC before heading home (explanations will follow sometime in another post).

I know today is Monday and I should be posting pictures, but we got home late last night, and I have over 200 pictures to go through from the trip. Once I get them on the computer and sorted, I will post some.

As great as vacation on a beach is...it's still always nice to come home.
