Cupcakes at the Camper

Since I've been feeling so good lately, we've been spending more time at our camper.  The kids absolutely love it there!  They both hate leaving it and Will even worries that every time daddy leaves the house he's going to the camper without him.  Last weekend, we took the kids to a cupcake decorating activity while there and they enjoyed every bite of the yummy cupcakes they decorated.

I am trying so hard to get back into my daily blogging (ok, I'd be happy with every other day again), but it's just so hard to find time most days. And then the days I do have time, I often find myself at a loss for things to write about. I mean I'll start writing something and then re-read it and think "who the heck would care about this?". So I delete it and decided that having no post that day is better than the gibberish I had just typed.

Today is one of those days where I have time to write, but just don't have any interesting topics. So, instead I will just distract you from my lack of witty interesting to read posts with adorable pictures of my ADORABLE children (seriously, I just typed "chickens" instead of children and had to fix it, pretty sure pictures of chickens would not be the way to go here).

Memorial Day

We spent this past weekend at our camper and it was so nice and relaxing. We grilled for dinner every night, Julianna went swimming, I got to see my cousins that live in NC, we had a cookout with Joe's family and we ended it all with the annual Memorial Day parade in my hometown. I've only missed 1 parade there my whole life and that was when we lived in SC.

Today's parade had to battle some not so pleasant weather, a pretty good storm blew in about half an hour before the parade started. We didn't let that ruin our fun though. We put down the seat in the trailblazer, put a blanket in the back and had our lunch there during all the rain.

No Time For Blogging

Finally a few minutes to post. Will's first week home went WONDERFUL!! The transition from 1 kiddo to 2 was really smooth. The only thing I struggle with, is finding time to pump without one or both kids screaming (or in Julianna's case, getting into something she shouldn't). We have gotten into a pretty good schedule and things are getting easier every day. Amazingly, Will sleeps really well at night, a huge difference from Julianna's first week at home!

Monday, Will saw Dr. M for his first well baby check-up. He weighed 7lbs 8oz and had grown a whole inch since birth! She was very pleased with how he is doing. Then on Wednesday, Will saw Dr. S (one of his heart surgeons) for a quick follow-up on his surgery. Basically, he just looked at Will's incision to make sure it was healing well. At that appointment he weighed in at 7lbs 9oz...HE'S GAINING WEIGHT! I am hoping that by his appointment with Dr. Awesome on Tuesday he will have surpassed his birth weight. A friend of mine posted on FB that she was putting away all her sons newborn clothes. I laughed because newborn things are still big on my 5 week old little man!

Since things were going so well we decided to spend the weekend at our camper. Both kiddos did really well and it was fabulous to have a relaxing weekend. We really needed the time to just relax and have nothing to do or anywhere to be. We grilled hot dogs and yummy BBQ chicken, sat outside in the beautiful weather Friday, and just had a good time as a normal little family.

I am hoping to get back to my normal frequent posting soon. I miss writing about all our ordinary things. Just to hold everyone over until my next post (because who knows when that will be) here's some pics of my adorable kids from this week.

At the Campground

Last night. we decided to get out of the house for a little while and spend some time somewhere other than the hospital, so we headed down to the campground. Julianna played on the playground and then we grilled out with Joe's sister and family, and then sat around a campfire. It was nice to get away for a little and have a tiny bit of a normal life.

Closed for the Season

We spent Sunday closing up our camper for the winter. We had to empty out the cabinets and fridge, do a quick cleaning, and winterize the water lines. Despite all the work Joe and I were doing, Julianna was having blast running around and playing.

Since we hadn't stayed at the camper in last few weeks, you would have thought Julianna was seeing a long lost friend, when she got out of the car she ran right over to her slide and spent most of her time playing on it.

Even though it was chilly out, we had a nice last time at the camper for this season. We might go back this winter to sled ride (there are AWESOME hills there), but otherwise we won't be staying out there again until March or April.

Early Halloween

So I decided that I was going to make Julianna's Halloween costume this year for a couple of reasons. 1) My mom used to make my costumes when I was little and I remember always thinking they were soooo cool! 2) I really liked this cupcake costume from Pottery Barn Kids, but it cost $59!!!!
I broke out my sewing machine last week and channeled my crafty-ness inherited from my mom. I wanted to make Julianna a cupcake costume similar to the Pottery Barn Kids one ( and for under $20!). This is what I ended up with:

The campground we camp at had their Halloween weekend this past weekend. So Julianna got to go trick-or-treating and hang out with her cousins. It was great weather for all the events and I was very excited to finish her costume on time!

When we bought our "old camper" the people left behind a really nice sand table. Well, since we learned on vacation that Julianna HATES sand, we decided to use it as a water table and she LOVES it!
She has learned she can fill cups and other things and then dump the water all over herself. (Check out her awesome farmer tan!)

Since we don't have a lot of outdoor toys still, she has some of her bath toys at the table to play with. This table is the best thing ever...she plays at it all the time!
